אחת הצרות שהגיעו לנו עם ביאת הסלולר לעולם האינטרנט, היא שיותר ויותר יש לנו שירותים מבוססי מיקום. אממה, הם גם שירותים שמתיימרים לתת תוכן "מקומי" כלשהו. אבל נגיד וקוראים לי ריצ'רד, ואני מבקר בישראל מהאי הבריטי – אנגליה. אני אתחיל לקבל מידע בעברית, ואולי אף בערבית, למרות שהשפה אותה אני דובר היא אנגלית.

יותר מזה, תוכן שנגיש לריצ'רד באי מגוריו – אנגליה, ובכן הרבה ממנו לא זמין עבורו בישראל. אבל ריצ'ארד משלם אגרת טלויזיה באנגליה, ונאמן להוד מלכותה, ופתאום מקבל עונש על כך שבחר להתנתק מהאי למסע עסקים באיזה חברת הזנק נידחת במחוז שנקרא מדינת ישראל.

התניית שירותים והתנהגות גאוגרפיים מכילה הרבה יתרונות כמובן, שלא תבינו את זה לא נכון, אבל יש בה בעיקר שימוש שגוי לגמרי ממה שצריך שיהיה. בישראל למשל לכתובת IP אין באמת חשיבות למיקום שלך. היות ומרבית ספקיות האינטרנט יושבות באיזור אחד הנמצא בעיר לא קיימת ברחוב אשר קיבל את שמו לאור מה שנמצא מתחתיו – סיבים.

יש גם חברה נוספת אשר יושבת בעיקר בחיפה, והיא התמזגה עם עוד חברה שישבה בראש העין. כך שזיהוי המיקום לפי כתובת הגלישה אינה מדוייקת. יותר מזה, מה אם אני משתמש בשירות VPN. נגיד ואני גולש באמצעות חיבור VPN של חברה מסויימת ומקבל ממנה את ההתקשרות לרשת האינטרנט. האם אז אתם יודעים מה המיקום שלי ?

אז הפתרון הוא "כמובן" geolocation. לקחת ממכשיר מבוסס רשת סלולרית או מתוך מכשיר מבוסס מיקום כדוגמת GPS את המיקום שלנו, ולהגיד שאנחנו "כאן" ולתקוע במפה עוד נעץ חסר תועלת. אממה, מה קורה כאשר המידע שגוי (בכוונה או לא) ?

למשל כאשר אני מועיל בטובי להשתמש בשירותי Identica, ובכן בגלל שאינני מוכן למסור את המיקום שלי, אני תמיד מופיע כאילו אני נמצא בצרפת. אבל מעולם לא הייתי במדינה הזו. הייתי במדינות באיזור שלהם, אבל לא אצלה.

כאשר אתם בונים שירותים, אנא ממכם, אל תיצרו את השירות רק לפי מיקום, אפשרו לי – המשתמש לבחור טוב יותר מה אני רוצה לקבל ואיך.

When I studied computer sciences in the university, we learned a lot on how to write programs, but as far as I remember no one told us about debugging. We heard about the nice world of creating new things, but no one told us that most of the time we'll have to spend trying to understand other people's code. It turns out that while we mostly cherish writing the program, we spend a lot more try trying to understand what we (or others) wrote, and why does it misbehave, than the time we spent writing it in the first time.

גראב 2 מסוגל לאתחל מתוך מערכות קבצים שגראב הישן לא היה מסוגל לאתחל מהם. בין היתר אלו הן zfs, btrfs, ntfs, raid, lvm ועוד. זו הסיבה שהפצות אחדות הזדרזו והפכו אותו לתוכנת האיתחול שלהם המוצעת כברירת מחדל.

Web Fonts and Web Browsers – why Firefox is the best choice for most people who don’t read in the Latin alphabet

In December the Localization team of the Wikimedia Foundation, of which i am a proud member, deployed the support for web fonts in Wikipedias in several languages of India. Put simply, this technology allows anyone with reasonably modern web browser to read Wikipedia in an exotic language without manually installing exotic fonts on his computer. Tom Morris wrote a very nice blog post that explain why web fonts matter: Web fonts were invented for making web sites niftier, but they are useful for something much more important beyond aesthetics and design – to enable people to read and write in any language effortlessly. People need to be able to read and write effortlessly using a computer, but this notion is so basic that it is frequently overlooked.

Near the beginning of his career, Einstein thought that Newtonian mechanics was no longer enough to reconcile the laws of classical mechanics with the laws of the electromagnetic field.

Without webfonts, a person who speaks a language that is not written in Latin letters has two choices when seeing “◌◌◌◌ ◌◌◌ ◌◌◌◌◌◌◌◌◌”: to install fonts manually or to try to find that information in English or some other language that is written in Latin. Two frequently ignored facts: 1. most people don’t know how to install fonts on their computers; 2. most people don’t know English.

Web fonts make text readable without any effort from the user. Wikipedia is probably the first major website that uses web fonts for the really important purpose of allowing people to read websites in their language. This post here will highlight some technical details about the deployment.

A spoiler: Firefox rulez.

Microsoft Internet Explorer, not surprisingly, has the most issues with web fonts support. For example, it sometimes shows complete gibberish instead of the actual letters. The situation is especially bad on Windows XP; Windows XP is an old system, but it matters, because lots of people in India and in many other countries still use it – about 17% of Wikipedia’s readers use Internet Explorer on Windows XP. Even though Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 seems to handle web fonts decently, it cannot be installed on Windows XP, so it’s irrelevant to hundreds of millions of people. My advice to them – get Firefox.

Opera sucks here and there, too. For example, on a Mac, Opera may fail to show English (!) words, because it tries to show them in an Indic font, and if an Indic font doesn’t have Latin characters, the display is broken. Google Chrome has similar problems, too.

In Firefox we found practically no issues with web fonts support. The only problem with Firefox that happened during the deployment of WebFonts is that Firefox didn’t load the fonts at all, but actually that happened because Firefox implements the web fonts standard correctly. On our testing site the font files were loaded from the same server as the web page itself, while on the actual Wikipedia the font files are loaded from a different domain to improve performance. The web fonts standard says that by default a browser is not supposed to load fonts from a different domain, unless that domain explicitly allows this. Chrome, Opera and Internet Explorer override this standard and load the fonts and Firefox doesn’t. When we noticed it, we asked Wikimedia’s web server administrators to change the configuration to explicitly allow the loading of fonts. Wikimedia’s web server configuration files are open, so you’re welcome to read them by clicking the link.

I didn’t make any precise measurements, but from my personal experience Firefox has much less issues with support for Unicode, complex fonts and right-to-left text than any other browser. It surely does have issues, but my impression is that Chrome, Internet Explorer and Opera have much more of them.

We reported the font issues that we found in Google Chrome to its developers and we hope that they will be fixed. We also tried to report issues in Opera and Internet Explorer; since there’s no public bug tracking systems for these browsers, we cannot track their development.

Kim Jong Il, Tumblr, WebFonts and Firefox

Kim Jong Il died.

Then a humorous blog called “kim jong-il looking at things” surged in popularity.

I looked at it, too, and found it funny.

And then i looked at its about section and became sad. Its about section said: “for a more beautiful experience use google chrome or safari. font-face seems to have an issue with firefox and will display a very bland arial instead of the exquisite amaranth.” Someone reading this may think that it’s a bug in Firefox, but as a matter of fact, Firefox is the browser that implements font-face correctly according to the CSS standard.

This Kim Jong Il blog is hosted on tumblr.com – a nice and stylish blog service. Among other services, tumblr gives its gives users an option to use web fonts to improve the appearance of their blogs. tumblr’s developers probably only tested this feature with Chrome and Safari and when it didn’t work on Firefox nobody cared – after all, as nice as it is, it’s just another English font.

tumblr.com has the same issue that Wikipedias in Indic languages had after we installed WebFonts there – it tries to load the font files from a different server, but Firefox, according to the standard, doesn’t load the font from a different domain if that domain is not explicitly configured to support font loading. We in Wikimedia fixed it immediately after finding it, because using web fonts for us is a way to make our website readable. For tumblr, as for most other English websites, using web fonts is just a way to make the website a little more beautiful.

tumblr.com should fix this bug. I reported this font problem at getsatisfaction.com, hoping that tumblr developers would notice it. It hasn’t been done yet, even though it’s a one-line fix.

המרת קידוד לתגי ID3 בלינוקס

כל משתמש לינוקס או סמארטפון נתקל מתישהו בקבצי המוזיקה שתגי המידע שלהם מלאים בג'יבריש. בירור קצר מעלה שמדובר בבעיה בקידוד המידע: רוב התוכנות בחלונות מקודדות את המידע בקידוד עברי בעוד שבלינוקס הקידוד המקובל הוא UTF-8 העדכני שפותר הרבה בעיות.

לאחרונה העלתי את כל ספריית המוזיקה שלי אל Google Music ונתקלתי בהמון קבצים עם קידוד כזה, שבעבר לא היה לי את הזמן לטפל בהם והשארתי אותם כך. לפני שהעליתי אותם לשרתים של גוגל החלטתי למצוא פתרון קל שיתקן את כולם בקליק, והכי חשוב - שיעבוד על לינוקס בממשק גרפי ולא מורכב מדי.

התוכנה הראשונה שהתקנתי ענתה על כל הדרישות שלי, תוכנה ברורה ופשוטה, מתוך המאגרים של אובונטו שעם כמה הגדרות נכונות יודעת לבצע את ההמרה בקלות. הכירו את EasyTAG.

כל מה שהתוכנה הזאת יודעת לעשות הוא עריכה וניהול של תגי מידע בקבצי מוזיקה ומעבר לזה היא לא יודעת לעשות הרבה, אבל היא מספיקה בהחלט למטרה שלנו.

לאחר התקנה מהירה, נגלה ממשק די פשוט: בצד שמאל עץ התיקיות, במרכז החלון רשימת הקבצים בתיקיה הנבחרת, ובצד הימני מופיע התג של הקובץ הנבחר.

כאן אפשר לערוך ידנית כל תג בנפרד, או להריץ סקאנר שישנה פרמטרים אוטומטית, אנו נתמקד בהמרת הקידוד.

על מנת שהתוכנה תדע להמיר נכון את הקידוד, נצטרך להגדיר את הקידודים שאנו רוצים להשתמש בהם. נכנס אל Settings > Preferences ונראה את חלון ההגדרות של התוכנה.

בחלון ההגדרות נכנס אל הלשונית ID3 Tag Settings ונגדיר את הגדרות הקידוד לקידודים שאיתם נרצה להתעסק. על מנת לעבוד עם קבצים בשפה העברית, נרצה בדרך כלל להגדיר UTF-8 כקידוד לכתיבה ו- Windows-1255 כקידוד לקריאה. ניתן לראות את ההגדרות הללו בצילום המסך המצורף (לחיצה עליו להגדלה).

כעת, נאשר את ההגדרות ונפתח את התיקיה בה מאוכסנים הקבצים שאנחנו רוצים לתקן (אם היא כבר פתוחה, לחיצה על F5 לריענון) שמות הקבצים שבוצע בהם שינוי נצבעו כעת באדום. כדי לשמור את השינוי, נסמן אותם ונלחץ על כפתור השמירה (או CTRL+S) ונאשר את השינויים.

זהו! כעת התגים הומרו לקידוד התקני ויוצגו נכון גם אצלכם בלינוקס, וגם כשתעלו את הקבצים אל Google Music. תהנו!

MySQL command line vs. visual editors - reflections

My previous post drew some attention, and in particular two comments I wish to relate to. I also wish to make a more fine-grained observation on visual editors.

One comment is by Peter Laursen, who rejected the generalization in my post, and another by wlad, who was harsher (but to the point), suggesting my post translated to "I don't know it, therefore it sucks".

I must have delivered the wrong message, since apparently people read my post as "don't use visual editors, they are bad for you", which is not what I intended to say, nor is it what I actually think. I took a very specific aspect of visual editors and commented on that. My comment should not extrapolate to "anything about visual editors is bad".

I don't think people should only be using the command line, and am not in the least interested in vi/emacs/eclipse/netbeans kind of wars. Of course everyone should be using whatever works best for them in terms of productivity and ease of use. And of course visual editors have great advantages over command line.

I'm sorry, it would be childish to assume otherwise, and extra-extra-extrapolation to suggest that was my hidden meaning.

Reflections on Peter's comments

I can see that my post was harsh on visual editors, and agree one cannot just generalize on the dozens of editors available. I have used a few tools, and only to some extent, since I personally feel more comfortable with command line, and so I cannot possibly generalize on all tools. Nor are they all equal.

My point is, there is one de-facto tool, which is the command-line, for which there are no hidden assumptions. For which I don't need to investigate whether a new connection is being opened, or if my query is somehow modified, or... I guess one can say "hey, my tool does nothing of the sort and acts just like the command line". I'm not arguing. The visual editor is an additional layer between you and the server (the mysql command line client is in itself a layer, but a very transparent one, a very low level one), one which needs to take care of visual issues, such as display space, GUI components, widgets not running out of memory, responsiveness, good looks. These, one way or the other, add complexity to the discussion between yourself and your database.

One can say "it's all configurable, there's good documentation, you should know the tool you are using". To some extent the same can be said of the command line client. Here is an observation of mine, please consider it as user input: many (I don't know if most) users will not bother modifying the settings. Many will feel uncomfortable with turning checkboxes on and off, or modify thresholds. It is similar in essence to users not modifying the default InnoDB settings for the MySQL server, working with 8MB of buffer pool.

Anyway I agree my post was over-generalizing on the criticism of visual editors. Sorry for that. It should have been more specific on the advantages of command line.

Reflections on wlad's comments

Since I wanted to concentrate on the command line issue, I didn't elaborate on other stuff. For example, I didn't specify on what type of trainings I ask students to close down their visual editors and open up a command line. Perhaps one could read as "from this moment on, and for the entire duration of the training, no one should be using visual editors, and anyone who does will find himself/herself out of the class". I really didn't think to elaborate on that, and even now - wow, it will take me ages to tell the full story. So I will be extra-brief:

I do make that suggestion. I do that when I start discussion of keys & execution plans. I don't enforce that. I don't mind which tool a developer uses. I actually tell them about various GUI tools they can use (naming the ones I see as most popular among other students).

But I also do not turn my training to "I'm going to do this session using the same tools you are using just because you are using them and you are in this class".

There is a multi-layered reasoning for that:

Many times there is a mixture of tools in the classroom. I can't just pick up on one. The command line is the most common tool everyone can agree upon. I sometimes demonstrate on MySQL Workbench since many are familiar with it being an "official" GUI tool by the same company which makes the database.
If I dwell on the particulars of a GUI tool, this consumes precious time that must be used to explain the EXPLAIN and talk about INDEX in depth. I just don't have that time on training. The command line consumes very little time for me.
I also don't see that I should demonstrate using commercial products. I have nothing against commercial, and on occasion I buy commercial, and I certainly do not slight a commercial product just because it's commercial, but I prefer to sponsor open source. If students have a commercial product, I don't see this is my duty to walk them through the product.
There are actually a few more reasons; operating systems, installations, assumptions on installed software, strict system administrators who would not installed anything I would tell them, projectors, font sizes, contrast of colors on projected image, ... Believe me, I've been doing this for years, there are many factors to any small decision in class.

Last, I wish to relate to wlad's "I don't know it. It sucks" attribution to my post.

It is true there is not one single SQL GUI tool I know bottoms up. And the status is deteriorating, since I've long since decided my personal preference is command line. This makes me a non-expert, no-authority on any GUI tool. I actually present myself as such in class. This does not lower the quality of the training; it's an aspect outside the training (for the reasons I mentioned above). I therefore agree to "I don't know it".

Now, I strongly believe I do not make the connection to "therefore it sucks". I think that's an exaggerated extrapolation of what I said. But it is such an overwhelming statement about myself for me to read, that I will keep it in mind. It's a good thing to keep in mind, not only on GUI tools, but also in real life.

במפגש השני של איגוד משתמשי Moodle השתתפו כ-60 איש וביניהם מורים, אנשי חינוך, אנשי אקדמיה, מרצים ממוסדות השכלה גבוהה, בעלי חברות תוכנה ומפתחים פרטיים. התכנית כללה הרצאות מומחים על מערכת ניהול למידה Moodle, הצגת עבודות מורים והצגת לומדות ופיתוחים של חברות מסחריות.

ד"ר יוסי אלרן ממכון דוידסון לחינוך מדעי היציג תכנית למידה מרחוק במדעים בסיוע מערכת ניהול למידה Moodle. מכון דוידסון מציע ומפתח תוכניות חדשניות בחינוך מדעי ובמתמטיקה. חלק מהתוכניות מלוות בהוראה למידה ב-Moodle.

נירית רון, הציגה לימוד שפה ערבית כשפה שנייה בבתי הספר התיכוניים בעזרת ה- Moodle בציינה כי הכרת סביבה זו הניעה אותה לשלב למידה מקוונת בהוראת הערבית ומהווה גורם אטרקטיבי לתלמידים באופן תהליך הלמידה.
כמו כן הוצג קורס ללימוד באנגלית לבגרות ע"י ד"ר בלה רוזובסקי וליביה גולדנבלט. הקורס מקנה כלים להתמודדות על כל טקסט באנגלית על ידי עידוד חשיבה וניתוח בזמן הקריאה.
הספר הדיגיטלי ללימוד הבנת הקריאה באנגלית לכיתה ה' הוצג ע"י בריג'יט שוורץ מחברת UPP. התוכנה פותחה ע"י איגל מחשבים.

לסיכום, ציינו משתתפי המפגש כי בעזרת שיתוף פעולה ניתן להעשיר ולהרחיב את הטמעת יישום סביבת הלמידה Moodle בשדה החינוך.

אומרים הרבה פעמים לא לבדוק את שיני הסוס, במידה והוא מוכשר. אני לא מסכים עם האמירה הזו. היות והיא לרוב שגויה. סוס שלא מסוגל לאכול כמו שצריך, לא משנה כמה הוא מוכשר, לא יהיה סוס מרוץ/מלחמה טוב, אם להמשיך את המטפורה הזו (וסליחה אם זה פוגע במישהו, זו לא הכוונה).

עברתי בRedis משלב כתיבת הפרוטוקול, לשלב יצירת הפונקציות השונות. ואם בכתיבת הפרוטוקול היו לי חששות כבדים, אז לצערי הם הרבה יותר ממתממשים. לא רק שהתעוד לפעמים לוקה בחסר. הוא הרבה פעמים לא נכון. כלומר מה שקורה בפועל ומה שכתוב בתעוד אם הוא כבר כתוב, ובכן, לא תמיד הוא נכון. יותר מזה, יש פקודות אשר אפשר לשחק איתן בדף התעוד, אז הן לא תמיד מגיבות זהה לredis עצמו בפועל.

אני מוצא את עצמי משקיע המון אנרגיה בלעשות סוג של reverse engineering למסד הנתונים הזה, מאשר ליצור משהו. יש פקודות שלוקחות כל כך הרבה אנרגיה סתם בגלל תעוד שגוי.

ניסיתי לפנות לפני שבועיים למפתח של Redis,אבל עד עכשיו לא קיבלתי תשובה. יותר מזה, יש בתעוד הרבה תגובות. חלקן אפילו מצביעות על כשלים בתעוד עצמו, וגם הן לא זוכות למענה.

מצד אחד במימוש שלי, יכולתי לעשות לעצמי חיים קלים הרבה יותר, היות וכתבתי מימוש די אגנוסטי, אשר אם תצפו בקוד, תראו שאין לי משהו מיוחד שנעשה בתוך הקריאה לפקודות וחזרה. כלומר זה די copy paste המימוש הזה. אבל חשוב לי להבין לעומק. יותר מזה, חשוב לי לכתוב תעוד מדוייק במימוש שלי. למעשה אם תקראו את הקוד, אתם תראו שיש הרבה יותר תעוד מאשר קוד בהרבה מקומות. מימוש של שורה אחת לקוד, ו10-15 שורות הסבר על הפקודה עצמה.

ככול שאני נכנס יותר ויותר לקרביים של Redis מבחינת המימוש שלו (לא קראתי את הקוד עצמו), ככה אני פחות ופחות סגור על כך שהוא בכלל שווה נגיעה. אני ממשיך לממש את הפרוטוקול והפקודות שלו, אבל זה כבר לא מרגיש טוב כמו בהתחלה.

The right way to install CPAN modules

There are several ways to install CPAN modules and about everyone advocates something else. You can install the modules supplied by your vendor (e.g. using aptitude on Debian). If the module is not available from the vendor you can prepare a package (in the case of Debian using dh-make-perl) or you can install the modules using a CPAN client. In that case you can do it to the standard system directories or using local::lib. You could also build your own perl with or without perlbrew and then you can install everything with a CPAN client.

על nginx ועל symbolic links

בעקבות הכתבה של עופר כהן הגעתי לטבלת השוואה מעניינת בין Apache לבין nginx. מה שהפתיע אותי זה שכדי להעביר קובץ http://example.com/site/files/images/layout/header.png השרת nginx מבצע קריאת stat בודדת. הטבלה עשתה השוואה עם apache שעשה O(n)‎ קריאות עבור תיקיה בעומק n לעומת O(1)‎ עבור nginx...

ברגע שראיתי את זה נדלקה לי נורת אזהרה! מה עם symbolic links?

הסבר: נניח אני איצור קישור סימבולי בשם mypicture.png שיפנה ל־‎/etc/passwd או לקובץ רגיש אחר, אז ע"י גישה לקובץ תמים אני אוכל לקרוא כל קובץ שיש לשרת web הרשאות לקרוא.

לכל השרתי web יש אופציה לא לעקוב אחרי קישורים כאלה מטעמי אבטחה וזאת גם אופציה מומלצת לעבודה. מה חשוב, זה שבלתי אפשרי לעשות בדיקה כזו ב־O(1)‎ קריאות מערכת ההפעלה (לפי עומק התיקיה).

אז החלטתי לבדוק בעזרת strace, כמה קריאות stats בפועל מבצעים apache,‏ lighttpd ו־nginx כשהאופציה כזו מופעלת וגיליתי... ש־nginx בכלל לא תומך באופציה כזו! קרי הגדרת אבטחה בסיסית שכל שרת אינטרנט החל מ־apache ועד ל־thttpd תומכים בו (אגב גם השרת הפנימי של cppcms) בכלל לא מופיעה בו!

התשובה (רוסית) של מפתח nginx היא להשתמש ב־mount -o nosymfollow עבור מערכת הקבצים כדי לעקוף את הבעיה.

MySQL command line vs. visual editors

Students in my training classes usually prefer to use some kind of visual editor for MySQL. Typically this would be the software they're using at work. Sometimes they just bring over their laptops with the software installed. Or they would use MySQL Workbench, which is what I usually have pre-installed on their desktops.

I see MySQL Workbench, SQLyog, Toad for MySQL, or several more.

I always humbly suggest they close down their software and open up a command line.

It isn't fancy. It may not even be convenient (especially on Windows, in my opinion). And repeating your last command with a minor modification requires a lot of key stroking. Or you would copy+paste from some text editor. Most students will give it a shot, then go back to their favorite editor.

Well, again and again I reach the same conclusion:

Visual editors are not as trustworthy as the command line.

Time and again students show me something on their editor. Behavior seems strange to me. Opening up a console shows a completely different picture.

Things like:

The visual editor would open a new connection for every new query (oh, so the @user_defined_variable I've just assigned turns NULL, or the TEMPORARY TABLE disappears).
The visual editor will only show 1,000 results, via LIMIT 0,1000. "But the same query runs so much faster on my machine!". Well, sure, a filesort of 1,000,000 rows that can satisfy the first 1,000 will quit early!
The visual editor shows table definition graphically. "I didn't realize the index did(n't) cover this and that columns. I didn't realize it only covered first n characters of my VARCHAR.". That's because you can't beat SHOW CREATE TABLE, the definite table structure description.
The visual editor allows for export/import/copy/transfer of tables and rows with just one click! "Why is it so complicated in the command line to purge 1,000,000 rows from a table?". Ummm, did you realize the visual editor would typically use a naive approach of doing everything in one huge transaction?
The visual editor is smart. But sometimes you don't want smart. You just assume simple. I personally take great precaution with smart solutions. Luckily, with scripts you have so much greater control (i.e. command line options, "dry-run" mode, etc.) that I have greater confidence in them.

I do like it when a visual editor plays it both smart and safe, in such way that before doing its smart work it actually presents you with the query it's going to issue. Which is why I always considered MySQL Query Browser (now replaced by Workbench) to be the visual editor of choice in my classes.

But, at the end of the day, I strongly believe: if you don't know how to do it with command line, you can't really know how it's done.

התקינו (ותאשרו את העובדה שהKEY לא קיים, זה מה שבא להתקין אותו) את:

linuxmint-keyring

שדרגו:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

מזל טוב!

התקינו את אחת (או יותר) חבילות המטא:

apt-cache search meta|grep mint

mint-meta-mate – Set of packages required to run MATE
